Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about QuietCam — privacy, features, pricing, and how black screen recording works.
Is my data private with QuietCam?
Yes. QuietCam stores all recordings locally on your iPhone and does not collect analytics, run ads, or require an account. Your media never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
Does QuietCam work offline?
Yes. QuietCam works completely offline for recording, playback, and gallery management. You only need an internet connection to download the app or manage your PRO subscription through the App Store.
Can I export recordings to my Camera Roll?
Yes. QuietCam saves recordings to a private in-app gallery by default, but you can export any item to your Camera Roll or share it through the iOS share sheet whenever you choose.
What is the QuietCam PRO subscription?
QuietCam PRO is an optional subscription that unlocks 4K 60fps video recording, high-quality stereo audio capture, and burst mode with custom intervals. Plans are $3.99/week, $9.99/month, or $34.99/year.
How does black screen recording work in QuietCam?
QuietCam runs the camera in the background while displaying a black screen, lock screen wallpaper, or custom image on your display. You tap anywhere on the dark screen to capture, and the camera records normally despite the invisible interface.
Is recording with QuietCam legal?
QuietCam is a standard camera app, and the legality of recording depends on your local laws, the setting, and whether consent is required. You are responsible for knowing and following applicable recording and privacy regulations.
Does QuietCam support the iPhone Action Button?
Yes. QuietCam added Action Button support in version 1.2, allowing you to assign custom recording actions for instant photo, video, or audio capture directly from the hardware button.
What devices are supported by QuietCam?
QuietCam requires iOS 17.0 or later and is available for iPhone only. It supports all compatible iPhone models with front and rear cameras, multiple lenses, and Action Button on supported devices.
How do I cancel my QuietCam PRO subscription?
Cancel your QuietCam PRO subscription in iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → QuietCam PRO. You retain access to PRO features until the end of your current billing period.
Does QuietCam track analytics or collect usage data?
No. QuietCam does not track analytics, collect usage data, or include any third-party tracking or advertising SDKs. The app operates entirely on your device with no data sent to external servers.
Can I use the front camera with QuietCam?
Yes. QuietCam supports both the front-facing and rear-facing cameras, including ultra wide, wide, and telephoto lenses on compatible iPhone models.
What video resolutions does QuietCam support?
QuietCam's free tier supports basic video recording. PRO subscribers can record at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, depending on your iPhone model's camera capabilities.
How does burst mode work in QuietCam?
Burst mode is a PRO feature that automatically captures photos at intervals you define — from seconds to minutes — while your screen remains dark. Tap to start and stop the burst sequence.
Is there a free trial for QuietCam PRO?
Yes. QuietCam PRO offers a free trial for new subscribers through the App Store, letting you test 4K video, stereo audio, and burst mode before committing to a paid plan.
How do I hide camera controls in QuietCam?
Long press anywhere on the QuietCam screen to hide all on-screen controls. Your display shows only the black screen, lock screen wallpaper, or custom background — tap anywhere to capture.
Is QuietCam a spy camera app?
No. QuietCam is a minimal, privacy-first black screen camera built for distraction-free, battery-efficient recording — not covert surveillance. Apple's on-screen camera indicator stays visible whenever the camera is active, so recording is never truly hidden.
Will people know I'm recording with QuietCam?
QuietCam hides its own on-screen interface, but iOS always shows a green (camera) or orange (microphone) indicator in the status bar or Dynamic Island while recording. That indicator cannot be removed by any app, so recording is not invisible.
Can I access QuietCam recordings in the Files app?
QuietCam saves recordings to its private in-app gallery by default. You can export or share any file through the iOS share sheet — including saving to the Files app or your Photos library — whenever you choose.
Ready to record with your screen off?
Download QuietCam free from the App Store. No account required. Start your PRO free trial anytime.
