Does QuietCam work offline?

QuietCam is built as a fully local app, which means every core feature works without Wi-Fi or cellular data. You can open the app, switch between recording modes, capture photos and videos, record audio, browse your private gallery, and delete or organize files — all while your phone is in airplane mode. There are no cloud features, no online processing steps, and no background sync that would require connectivity.

This offline-first design makes QuietCam especially useful in environments where network access is unreliable or unavailable. Students recording lectures in classrooms with poor reception, professionals documenting field observations in remote locations, and travelers capturing moments abroad can all rely on QuietCam without worrying about data usage or connection drops interrupting a recording session.

Because recordings are saved directly to your device, there is no upload queue or pending sync status to monitor. When you finish a recording, it is immediately available in your private gallery. Battery efficiency is another benefit of the offline approach: without constant network activity, QuietCam can focus its resources on camera capture and local file storage.

The only scenarios where you need an internet connection involve the App Store itself. Downloading QuietCam for the first time, updating to a new version, starting a PRO free trial, purchasing a subscription, or canceling a subscription all happen through Apple's App Store infrastructure, which requires connectivity. Once PRO features are activated on your device, they remain available offline for the duration of your subscription period.

If you are planning a trip or a long recording session in an area without service, we recommend downloading QuietCam and activating any PRO features beforehand. After that, the app is entirely self-contained and ready to use wherever you are.
