How do I hide camera controls in QuietCam?
Long press anywhere on the QuietCam screen to hide all on-screen controls. Your display shows only the black screen, lock screen wallpaper, or custom background — tap anywhere to capture.
QuietCam is designed around the idea that a recording interface should disappear when you do not need it. By default, the app already minimizes visual clutter compared to the built-in Camera app — there is no viewfinder preview, no mode dial, and no shutter button graphic. But for maximum discretion, you can hide every remaining on-screen element with a single gesture.
To hide all controls, long press anywhere on the screen during an active recording session. Every button, indicator, and UI element vanishes, leaving only your chosen background: a pure black screen, a lock screen-style wallpaper with an optional clock, or a custom image you have uploaded. To someone glancing at your phone, it appears completely idle — powered on but showing nothing actionable.
Capture still works while controls are hidden. A single tap anywhere on the screen takes a photo or starts and stops video recording, depending on your current mode. You do not need to unhide controls to interact with the camera. This tap-anywhere approach means you can operate QuietCam by feel — useful when the phone is in a pocket, on a desk, or positioned for a specific angle where you cannot see the screen clearly.
To bring controls back, long press the screen again. The interface reappears, giving you access to mode switching, camera selection, settings, and gallery navigation. You can hide and unhide controls as many times as needed during a session without interrupting an active recording.
For the most discreet setup, combine hidden controls with black screen mode and — on supported iPhones — Action Button triggering. Assign a recording action to your Action Button, press it to start capturing, and your phone shows a completely dark, control-free display. This workflow is ideal for situations where even a momentary glance at the screen should reveal nothing. See our Action Button guide for full setup instructions.
